With the first track day booked and a list of parts to buy, we thought we’d start with the cost effective and amazing quality ST Suspension XTA Coilover kit. As we’re not mechanics, it took us a couple of days and ALOT of swearing to get them on. Although the m3 is one of the cleanest examples we could have found for the budget, it is still a bloody old car! We haven’t experienced as many seized bolts in our lives! All was worth it! It felt like a new cars with the new suspension fitted. All it needed was a fast road/track day geometry set up. Our friends over at The Motorworks sorted this out! Other little mods included a Wheel Stud Conversion and smoothing the front bumper ready for its private plate and a much cleaner look!
Having sorted the handing and suspension, the M3 seemed to be too pointy for its stock wheel and tyre set up. After looking at various brands and designs, we settled on an aggressive fitment of ProTrack 1 wheels as the answer. Along with the wheels, we opted for the Advan AD09 semi slick tyres to do the track/fast road job. Along with wheels and tyres, the M3 received a Carbon GTS style rear wing and RidgeLine front splitter for an extra bit of aerodynamic assistance. Who knows if they make a difference, all we can say is that the car drives very differently to the almost stock car we picked up a few months prior.
