3. Fixing the gremlins! -
Having now been able to experience the car on both some amazing driving roads, British tracks and the Nurburgring, the general consensus is that the car is EPIC! However, there are few gremlins that we identified in different scenarios.
The first gremlin was the gearbox. In stock form it seemed fairly unsure, clunky and made the throttle response really sensitive. After some quick googling and some input from the Facebook M4 Owner group, we were told about the GTS Gear Box, Traction control and ABS tune. The M4 went back to RD Motorworks to be tuned and what a difference it makes!!! Its feels like a new bloody car. So much more responsive in gear changes but so much smoother around town!
Next was a little bit of aerodynamic help. We noticed that we were fairly unstable into fast speed braking zones (mainly on track). Also, everyone at the Nurburgring seems to have very fun rear spoilers.
At the back of the car we opted for the Ridgeline Ring Spec wing with the GT4 Risers courtesy of our prints over at Clubsport Garage. Not only does it look cool but we have noticed a huge difference in high speed stability. We’ve paired the spoiler up with a custom built chassis mount two piece front splitter. The top part if the splitter consists of a cut in half carbon air dam with the lower chassis mount element sandwiching it all together. We did this for performance but also for the cost effectiveness.
